The Sunshine Coast International Readers and Writers Festival is proud to be collaborating with the University of the Sunshine Coast to make this exciting new festival the platform for their university students to shine!
We are working together to not only mentor their university students (from many faculties), but to provide a platform to present their work, enable them to network with international, national and regional writers, journalists, photographers, poets, playwrights and publishers and, as importantly, hone their skills in a real-life, on-the-ground, new and ground-breaking writers festival by taking on roles such as festival volunteers, presenters and organisers.
Letter of Support from: Dr Paul Williams, Program Co-ordinator and Senior Lecturer Creative Writing, Faculty of Arts and Business, University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
“The Creative Writing Program at the University of the Sunshine Coast fully supports the Sunshine Coast International Readers and Writers Festival and hopes and its endeavours to create a vibrant creative community on the Sunshine Coast that fosters reading and writing, and acknowledges the role of the traditional owners of this land and their 50,000-year-old cultural heritage in storytelling and stewardship of the land.
We have a synergistic connection with the festival and hope to provide support in terms of mentoring with regional, national and international writers, and provide an opportunity for our university students to work at the festival as volunteers and to participate in its many activities.”
