Sue Sewell

Sue Sewell is an award-winning Sunshine Coast playwright and director who has tread the boards to great acclaim. She started on the stage at nine years old with the usual school production, singing a song which she can still remember, and she so enjoyed that experience! In her later teenage years she was encouraged by a very theatrical aunt and uncle to take the lead in “The Chalk Garden” and she has been involved in amateur theatre ever since.

Simon Denver

Simon Denver has been a writer for nearly 40 years and although he is regarded by his peer group as a professional writer he still regards himself as a journeyman. His list of publications include plays, musicals and educational books. He is currently the Artistic Director of S.R.T. Inc.(Suncoast Repertory Theatre). In 2012 Simon was one of the inaugural inductees into the Queensland Cultural Champions Hall of Fame.

Hugh O'Brien

Hugh O’Brien has twice won both the Noosa National One Act Playwriting Competition and the Dogwood National Playwriting Competition. He has had 14 plays produced, nine of which are published by Maverick Musicals and Plays. His one-act comedies have been staged throughout Australia as well as in New Zealand and the UK and have proved very popular on the festival circuit. His most recent play is Western Downs Western Front, a modern day story about the ghost of a First War soldier helping a Gen-Y girl sort out her troubled life. Hugh wrote the screenplay for the thriller feature film The Pact (2002) which starred Sigrid Thornton and Essie Davis. He has worked as a radio announcer, football commentator, news editor, advertising creative director, government media advisor and political speechwriter.

Leigh Warneminde

Leigh Warneminde has been involved in the Coolum and North Shore Coast Care as a volunteer since its inception in 1998, and as President for many of the following 18 years. She continues to undertake an array of practical activities to preserve and protect the area with like-minded people. Leigh was born in Brisbane, moving to Coolum in 1985 to pursue her nursing and midwifery career. Her interest in the environment was fostered at an early age, having grown up exploring and enjoying South East Queensland’s many natural surroundings, but her passion for native coastal flora and fauna was unleashed when she moved to Yaroomba with her family in the 1990s.

Steven Lang

Steven Lang is the author of two novels: his most recent one, 88 Lines About 44 Women (Penguin, Viking) is a contemporary story set in both Scotland and Australia. It is narrated by Lawrence Martin, sometime keyboard player in one of Australia’s more successful rock bands from the ‘80s. The novel was short-listed for two major fiction awards in 2010. Steven’s first novel, An Accidental Terrorist (UQP, 2005), won two prestigious awards: the UTS Award for New Writing in the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards, and the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award for Best Emerging Author. It was also longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writer’s Prize for best first novel.
